File Migration

In case you migrated from Parse.com and you had files stored on their S3 Bucket, you might want to migrate due to the Parse shutdown. Back4App offers the very same functionality and a easy way of migrating your files, safely and without any headache. We’ll see that it is pretty straightforward.

Step 1 – Update your App

First of all, you must have already updated your app to point to Back4App’s endpoint, in order to have a successful migration. This means that you must have your Parse App migrated using Back4App’s migration tool and use Back4App’s API already. Check out these guides below to ensure this step:

Step 2 – Migrate the files

Now, it is high time to start the file migration. Go to your Dashboard and find the following option:

file_migration_button

Click on it. You’ll see the following screen:

file_migration_screen

Read the instructions, scroll down and locate the checkbox. Tick the checkbox and click on Confirm:

file_migration_checkbox

Once you’ve done that, you’ll see an updated screen, just like this one:

file_migration_updated

After this, hit the Back button and wait for it to migrate. To follow the progress of the app, just go to the File Migration again and check the Progress:

file_migration_completed

Once its Last Status is Completed, the migration was successful. You don’t have to type any Parse key or anything, Back4App will handle that for you. Now the files are in Back4App’s S3 Bucket. In case you’re not a migration client, this option won’t do any harm to your files or app status. That’s it for the file migration!
